GPT Image 2 while you wait for Luna Lisa Alpha

Waiting for Luna Lisa Alpha does not mean waiting to make images.

GPT Image 2 is already the public OpenAI image model. It launched as ChatGPT Images 2.0 on 21 April 2026. This studio exposes two production forms on the homepage:

  • Generate — gpt-image-2-text-to-image (prompt, aspect ratio, 1K / 2K / 4K).
  • Edit — gpt-image-2-image-to-image (up to 16 input_urls, same geometric controls).

The API key stays on the server. The browser polls task status so Cloudflare Workers are not blocked on a multi-minute generation.

Prompt habits that transfer to Alpha

Whatever Luna Lisa Alpha turns out to be, testers will compare it to GPT Image 2 on the same axes:

  • Quoted on-image text (“LUNA LISA ALPHA” not a vague “neon sign”).
  • Product labels that must stay spelled correctly after an edit.
  • Crowded multi-subject prompts.
  • Edit consistency: change the background, keep the bottle.

Use those prompts today. When a public Alpha endpoint exists, the same Studio tabs will gain a new model row.

Limits to remember

Auto aspect ratio only supports 1K. 1:1 cannot go to 4K. Several tall/wide ratios are 1K-only. Edit inputs must be public HTTPS URLs, so production needs object storage (R2) configured in admin settings.
